Album of the Day: Kinks - Face to Face

A bit of a period piece. You can certainly hear some of the sounds around at the time: Revolver, Dylan’s electric, even The Byrds.

This sounds like a Kinks album from any time between ‘65 and the end of the ’70s. I like the way that The Kinks were never… dedicated followers of fashion.

Arf.

I didn’t get the concept at all. I’m not sure if there actually is a concept in there, despite what Wikipedia says.

Too Much on My Mind was an absolute delight. I’ve not heard this before.

Good, crafted songs, not outstanding, but a worthy listen. I might try and buy this if I can get a cheapo cheapo copy.
