This started off strong with some traditional blues. In particular the backing, with the bass and drums, came through with some conviction. But then by track two we enter into blues-pop territory. You simply can’t water down this type of music. It needs to be raw. It needs to be reverberating against your inner soul. The Mustang Sally cover, in particular, dilutes the Buddy Guy myth. Disappointing.
