Another start to the week, another run around the Estuary Wilds. Time was a little tight as ever. Never underestimate the complete faff it takes me to actually get my arse out of the front door.
I quite like these tight deadlines. I had precisely 50 minutes for the 10 km circuit ahead of the next work shift. This was the motivation I needed to pick up pace compared to recent runs.
It was a little fresher out there this morning. I noticed a difference straight away as soon as I hit the Quayside. Once again it was absolutely deserted around there shortly after 8 am.
I headed out along the sea wall. I had to play a game of dodge the cow pats. It looks like someone has had fun overnight littering the path heading down to Whitehouse Beach.
The tide was half in, half out. It looked a little pathetic to be honest. I’ve had deeper baths.
This didn’t stop the stench of seaweed as I approached the Creek. It was actually rather invigorating and helped me to power on with an increased pace.
The back half of the run was rather uneventful. The roads were relatively quiet with the schools closed.
I thought I could manage the 10 km route but fell a little short with my pace. I cut off the final 1 km in order to be at my work desk bang on time.
